The company's field of activity is importing Belgian chocolates, ice cream, wholesale and retail as well as café business. Kaakaopuu's main products are the chocolates made by a Belgian chocolate maker Leonidas. The product range includes ice cream and other Leonidas' products. Our café's good first-rate coffee meets chocolate pleasures. Our specialities are hot chocolates made of Belgian chocolate.History
Joke Hindryckx and Timo Haatainen found Kaakaopuu General Partnership in 2005. The first Kaakaopuu-chocolate store was opened in Kamppi in the centre of Helsinki on June 2nd, 2005. At first the industry involved selling and importing Belgian chocolate. Leonidas has clearly been the main product of Kaakaopuu right from the beginning.
Kaakaopuu moved to bigger properties in the centre of Kamppi in May, 2006. Café business started. Coupling chocolate and coffee has been a successful decision and Kaakaopuu has become known as a good quality chocolate café. In February, 2007, Outi Haatainen, who has worked in the company from the beginning, invested in Kaakaopuu as a silent partner. Soon after this, on April 3rd, 2007 the company form changed and Kaakaopuu became a limited liability company. Joke Hindryckx is still the main owner of the company. Kaakaopuu's activity remains ascending.
Kaakaopuu’s chocolate café, sale and import of chocolate
Kaakaopuu was found for importing and selling of Leonidas-chocolates. Nowadays, in addition to coffee, tea and cakes, our café offers many chocolate pleasures. We have specialized in hot chocolates, which are made in a Belgian style with molten Belgian chocolate, of course. In our cafés we trust in quality and good taste.
Our filter- and espresso coffees are both dark-roasted Italian coffee with great quality. Our own special coffees, out of reach anywhere else, are Café Fondant and Manon Café, are based on their namesakes of Leonidas chocolates. Our café's specialities are multiple hot chocolates. The hot chocolates are made with Callebaut-chocolate (70% dark chocolate and white chocolate) and milk.
